Cryptic picture posting!

Hey loyal blog readers! I'm posting these pics today because gosh nabbit we are a cute family!

Seriously, that's not the reason although those kids down there ARE cute if you ask me! Anyway, these are pics to show someone who is making something for my fun little family of 5 (well plus 2 dogs, 5 birds and the fish but none of those could care about this fun little surprise).

I think you'll get to see soon what these are for!

Another birthday boy

This little sweetie is about to have his first birthday. You can totally see his happy go with the flow attitude in his eyes...as the youngest of 3 brothers under 4 it's a good thing he's mellow!

MISSION COOKIE: COMPLETE

not all those who wander are lost.(jrr tolkien)

A couple days ago I got a call from the director of NBR, Northeastern Boxer Rescue about this little female boxer that was in our local shelter. Apparently the
rescue group had a foster home all set up and the Humane Society had agreed to release her to the rescue group. Little Miss Cookie just needed a ride! How could I not give this sweet little girl a ride to a whole new life? Luckily my friend Tina volunteered to take the road trip with me. So I introduced myself to Cookie yesterday at the shelter then picked her up first thing this morning and we were OFF! She is incredibly sweet and totally deserves to be treated like the princess that she thinks she is! She spent about 95% of the 3 hour drive curled up on Tina's lap. This boxer still has all her love to give and her heart has remained un-touched by her recent events. If you are ever interested in ANY breed please google a rescue group for that breed. If you are looking for a boxer anywhere from Maryland to Maine, check out www.boxerrescue.com

Considering Cookie is underweight, just weaned puppies and spent time in the shelter, she hasn't lost her unflappable happy boxer spirit!

Okay so I don't mean to be preachy but there is this rescue quote that I love. I'll share it with you:

Save one until there are none.

Oh BROTHER!

I like to bake. I REALLY like to bake. But this carrot cake doesn't get made very often. It's my coolfunhandsomefantastichandycake-lovin' brother Darrin's FAVORITE! Just know that if I EVER bake you this cake, I must really love you! It's in one of the Southern Living cookbooks. I think it's called Ultimate Carrot cake and it's chockfull of carrots, raisins (or pecans), pineapple, shredded coconut, buttermilk and sweet and yummy goodness. The frosting is completly fat and caloriless ofcourse because it's packed full of butter and cream cheese. I think one of the BEST parts of this recipe is this to DIE for and go to dessert heaven, buttermilk glaze you put on while the cake is still warm and before you frost it. YUMMMMM! Anyway, needless to say, this was Darrin's request for the anniversary of his 35th birthday. Yeah, see we have this wonderful thing of celebrating the anniversay of of 35th birthday that way we never hit 40....isn't that awesome? Bet you wish you'd thought of that, huh? :-)

And he's off...

My sweet, busy, silly, adventurous, blue-eyed nephew Mason will be ONE on Friday! He gives you the biggest, heart-warming grin of any baby I know. It's almost your big day little man!

This weekend was action-packed with a 2 sleepovers, a birthday party and 2 days of ice-skating on frozen ponds. Total FUN time but WHEW~! BUSY!

Charlie and this and that

Over the weekend we spent a double delightful time at Matt's brothers. Their hospitality cannot be compared! Here's some cute pics I snapped...well except for Callie, she was not interested!

http://dailycoyote.blogspot.com/ Go now. Read this now! :-) I've been hooked on this blog for weeks but I simply must share Charlie with you.

So if you "know me" you know I'm a "bit" into dogs. :-) I'm actually a tad of a freak and will stop the car to see a boxer. I've infected a friend or so with this strange affliction. Namely, Tina and now she also names boxer puppies that are NOT hers in Petco and has a wardrobe of collars for her petite little female boxer, Lucy. Well, Charlie up there is NOT a boxer but he's a coyote and a super cute one at that. His mom adopted him when he was just 10 days old after he was orphaned. His mom is a super cool photographer/writer who is just a young chic but moved across the country from the city to Wyoming INTO a one room log cabin. She's got guts people and this blog is SO worth reading! Check it out chickies!

Beautiful snow and I'm the meanest mom ever!

We went from supposedly getting a dusting to a very wet, heavy four inches! Weather in MD is just plain weird! But it sure was lovely! Can you tell Peyton wasn't in the mood? GAWD and that covered bridge shot could've been so COOL! And it's obvious now that Callie dabbled in some too RED lipstick while I was shooting Cole! Look at those lips! But jeeeeez, I HAVE to get back to that covered bridge...so pretty!

a few more

I received my new Crumpler in the mail yesterday....LOVE it...www.crumpler.com if you are interested...I'm lovin this bag! These are a few more images form the other day.

Another Peytonism: we were laying in bed talking about her upcoming birthday in March and she was trying to decide what kind of party she wanted. She really wants a "big girl" sleepover but I explained that a lot of girls won't really be able to spend the night yet at this age. So she layed there a minute and then said, "that's why I don't like "little"!

2008....oh GREAT!

so I'm not really into the new year celebration and stuff. Never really have been. There were just a few (very few) that I don't remember really well but other than that I usually look forward to the new year with some odd sense of dread that I can never figure out. Weird ebbyjevvy feeling in my stomach just like I still get before the first day of school. I've decided that 2008 is going to be GREAT...plus it rhymes and who doesn't love a good rhyme...except for Peyton when that rhyme ends in a bad word and she just sorta looks shocked!

Okay, if any of you read whimsyworks.blogspot.com, you might know that occasionally I post a Peytonism or two (or three). Here come some recent ones....(oh and this pic IS with the new fab cam but I don't know what I'm doing yet)
* Cole watched the neighbor girls goldfish while they went to Chicago for the Holidays. When they came back it was really raining but she was anxious for Cole to bring the tank back to her. Peyton said, "Cole, be careful that the fish don't get wet out there!" (on their walk back to the girls house in the rain)
*I don't often wear my wedding ring because I'm allergic to the weld between the band and my engagement ring. Peyton notices this all the time and it causes some distress. Yesterday, I was in the shower and Matt was shaving so I guess it made her notice his ring while she was watching him. So she opens the shower curtain and said to me, "Is it just me, or do you not love Dad 'cause you don't wear your ring."
